The Grand Imperial was built as a colonial hotel for the British Empire in the early 1900s when the country was ruled by the British.

The hotel was bought by the late Lala Bisambhar Nath, father of the current owners, at an auction on 01-01-1944. The hotel was formerly known as “Metropole” and later as “Imperial Hotel”. On the death of the late Bishambhar Nath, the hotel was split between the current owner Mr. Anil Kumar and his uncle and was renamed “The Grand Imperial”.
